If they are children, they should not be getting that sort of care without their parents' permission.

There are untold risks on many fronts if we continue to support, God forbid - incentivize, identity confusion. Humans spend a lifetime figuring out who they are. Making such drastic decisions in the early stages of life will exponentially increase the confusion. If the brain doesn't fully develop until 25 and the age of consent is 18, why have we pushed these insanely complex decisions on prepubescents? Parents should not be pushing a child to do anything except to become educated on the issues and to understand the consequences: good/bad & short/long term. Counseling is good for everyone, assuming the counselor is invested in what's best for the patient in the LONG term and is willing to strive toward the goal of lifetime, sustainable health practices.
To be clear, I don't believe fighting biology/genetics is an easy or wise thing to do.

SrA John Monette It's interesting, I never I didn't support. I said there are risks making complex decisions at such an early age.

SGT (Join to see) Wrong on both accounts. If I have no clue, educate me instead of being insulting.

I guess our friend Lt col Charlie Brown did not even read part of the thread: She posted: "they should not be getting that sort of care without their parents' permission."
From the article:
"even in cases where doctors, therapists and parents concur with the need for those treatments."

What the hell are conservatives so damned afraid?

"...even in cases where doctors, therapists and parents concur with the need for those treatments."

Is this insinuating that cases, where doctors, therapists, and parents concur, are rare? Perhaps Lt Col Brown is on to something.
