A woman who accused a former colonel of rape will be forced to pay millions in defamation damages...

Destroy a persons career decades after an incident just so you can get likes and attention on your blog and social media posts...... I doubt she will ever pay, I think there should be jail time for this kind of accusation. If its proven that a person makes a false accusation that destroys another persons livelihood, places them in jail, or ends their life, the accuser should be forced to pay restitution and if they are unable to then spend a significant amount of time in jail as restitution.

False allegations hurt people that are truly the victims of crimes just as much as the crime they are a victim of, because people stop believing when enough false accusations are thrown around.

Appreciate the share brother but I'd rather leave it up to the judges to decide sentencing, but she reaps what she sows she is going to pay for it I'm just upset that a gold man's career is ruined for it for her to get her moment of fame hope it was worth it.

On appeal, I'm sure this will be reduced quite a bit. Regardless, I don't think any substantial amount will be able to be paid by her. This will likely remain a lifetime debt.

I'd be interested to read the court transcripts on this and see how this battle was fought and won.

As to whether she should go to jail for any particular amount of time, what I think is a moot point. It's what the courts have decided under the law(s) governing the case that matters...hence the phrase "rule of law". I don't want my "feelings" to be the guide in any sentencing.
