I am not sure of this story is true. The Greeks and the Turks do not get along. Ironically, they both belong to NATO.

Entirely possible. I was at a remote NATO site in Turkey whose mission was to support Turkish Air Force aircraft sitting alert with American special weapons. We always joked that if they were ever launched it was 50/50 on whether they'd go to their assigned targets or to Greece, and Cyprus in particular.

Sad to read about this regional spat. Can only state was fortunate to count a Turkish and a Greek engineer as great co-workers and friends @ my last job. Never made it to Turkey (yet) but did vacation in Rhodes.
