I had read this before. On one hand it is great that they are able to do this on the other hand America's security comes first. If they aren't US citizen there is no obligation to let them in the USA. It doesn't matter what country they are from. The USA only has an obligation to take care of our own. Something they have failed to do for generations. Our infra-structure collapses while we rebuild everyone else's country. Enough with this silliness, we need to start taking care of our own first or there won't be an America left to help anyone else.

Well, SSG Pete Fleming… they could be searched and vetted upon arrival and then closely surveillance during their stay.

Capt Dwayne Conyers - I get what you are saying, but often those are war torn places where the record centers have been destroyed. Personal documents lost or destroyed, or in the case of ISIS controlled areas they had actually seized a place that make passports... It is a shame that we can't just open our arms to anyone, but we can't afford if financially nor physically, The safety and security of America and our legal citizens should be top priority over any other consideration. Period.

PO1 John Crafton, isn't that why DHS was formed by my former boss… at least three ICE component?

Then again, my tenure at DHS was highlighted by sitting at a watch desk answering crank calls.

It's easy to judge when you have no idea what led to the denied visas. It could be as simple as one of the names coming up as having an association with a known insurgent or terrorist. Yes, it sucks but none of us have to face the consequences of these decisions. Besides, I'm more interested in the larger number of denied or on hold Special Visa applications for our military interpreters in Afghanistan who have actually risked their lives for our country.
