Drug use has always been addressed as a law enforcement issue. It is not. We no longer lock people up for being drunk (in most states). Why do we lock them up for drug use?
Then we must address the why. That leads into a long list of social issues. Yes, social. Not criminal. Social.
We will NEVER end the drug problem until we address ALL those issues.
Want to end the war on drugs? End the social issues.
(Now I am the first to admit it is not that simple, and there are those that will always use. But we should address that separately).
