What a load of clap trap. Broadening its horizons? What this really means is that they should get back to what their bread and butter should be and was. Part of the problem is that the big army has now created the SFAB units that in reality is/has taken over more than half of the original SOF pie. Regular SOF is not the US Military SWAT team, the problem is that they are used that way and they (SOF) allowed it. In that regard they are no different than those staff officers and senior staff NCOs that bully their way into a deployment no matter how irrelevant they are just so they can get that combat patch, award for going to the combat zone, or combat badge.
