I admit I didn't read the entire article. It really tugs at the heart and the man suffered a LOT, and the police by no fault of their own added to the pain. It again sets up a slippery slope of what you can say, what you should say, and what is deemed questionable all by people who can take one word out of place and say you are a "risk".
Cops have some of the highest divorce rates, cases of domestic violence, and cases of PTSD. Who is going to go and take a cops weapons away? There are measures in place, but who actually will take more than their service weapons from them, and what would it be based off? If a cop shoots someone and expresses extreme remorse (and it's true remorse0, that cop may say something like what this man did. Who will take their weapons, who is brave enough to do it, and can they stand the political fallout that comes with it?
I'm not insulting cops, but there are few jobs that are close or exceed the stressors of military service.

I read the article looking for something to get me up in arms ... and found nothing. Seems to me the system worked well ... to the benefit of society and the individual concerned. No issue here for me.
