That was an incredibly ferocious battle between the Shinto warriors that the Japanese Army banzai charging soldiers imagined themselves to be up until the moment of death SGT John " Mac " McConnell. As soon as they died they learned just how wrong they were to worship the emperor.
Some people forget that the US Army fought in the Pacific during WWII.
The video reminds me of the song "The Morning After" as it rolls through images of burned out tanks, a few charred face Japanese bodies and many laying along the railroad tracks. The video must have bee shot after all US casualties had been processed which made sense for the newsreel footage.
