There is no greater love than to lay down one's life for one's friends. John 3:15 seems very appropriate in this instance SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL when at about 1 a.m., Aug. 26, 2015. Special Tactics Officer Capt. Matthew Roland shouted "Insider attack! Insider attack!" to his comrades as he threw the gearshift in reverse which resulted in him being killed along with " 31-year-old combat controller Staff Sgt. Forrest Sibley. But Roland's selfless actions that day bought his fellow troops precious time to counterattack and likely saved many more lives, the Pentagon said."
Hopefully the posthumous award of the Silver Star will help ease the pain of his loss for his family. I expect that since this is the first Memorial day since his being killed that his family and friends will be grieving. I pray that God will bless them with His peace in their grief and that they will be able to remember the good times they had with Matthew Roland through their tears.
