Apparently he lost his mind...I somehow suspect alcohol was involved since he'd been at a party previous to the event. However, that's not an excuse and his behavior was completely unacceptable.

This one was a public arrest, so it makes it easier to explain a definite public answer. Usually the boilerplate is used when there is an investigation ongoing which could lead to further legal action.

Lt Col (Join to see) There have been plenty of other commanders who were publicly arrested where the Service stated removal was due to 'loss of confidence'. The last one I saw I did a quick search and saw a DUI precipitated the 'loss'.
