Interesting read. Normally the retiree selects whether or not God is used. It may offends the 1/10th of 1% of those that are very sensitive you know.

SSG Warren Swan - Maj is it- Jul 20 and leaving Sep 20 or Sep 21. I will be 56 and just short of 37 or 38 years. I am done. Sep 19 if I finish my Masters with ACSC and will go as a Captain. I have 27 enlisted/ 6 officer and ready to turn over the duties to someone younger.

Maj Marty Hogan - Congrats on your retirement, and not a damn thing wrong with leaving when you want to. That is really a blessing many don't get to do.

SSG Warren Swan - It has changed a lot over the past 5 years. We have to be more sensitive because feeling get hurt when you tell them to do something. Even if this is something they signed on to do. Not all bad- it has been a fun ride and wonder where 30+ years went so fast. I have always considered myself very lucky.

When this came out a couple years ago, it evoked powerful commentary on many sides. Personally, I think it was a great dis-service to the retiree and the Air Force for this to go down as it did. What details I was able to review indicated a long-standing argument between this individual and the CO, culminating in this event.
Regardless of the reasons, background, or legality...once this ceremony started, it should have been allowed to continue.
Things like this truly worry me.
