Air Force Will Pit a Drone Against a Fighter Jet in Aerial Combat Test

It's hard to say if we are there yet, but we are close. The hardest nut to crack is likely the IFF.

AI would allow us to do a lot of things if the hardware (and quite frankly the AI) were created to take advantage of it. For example, such a pilotless drone doesn't have to worry about engaging in maneuvers that would kill or black out a pilot. Also the lines of the aircraft wouldn't have to worry about a pilot's position or visibility.

Once they become self aware we are screwed. :)
