Alaska-based staff sergeant killed in motorcycle accident

A soldier died in a motorcycle crash in Anchorage, Alaska, on Saturday, the Army reported.
Staff Sgt. Maurice O. Tucker, 31, a platoon sergeant with 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division, was riding with two other soldiers at approximately 7:50 p.m.
Travelling southbound on Minnesota Drive, Tucker was noted as having stopped abruptly at the Spenard Road traffic light, Anchorage Police Department said in a statement.
"When the light turned green, the motorcyclist took off at a high rate of speed. He lost control, began doing 'speed wobbles,'" the police department reported. Tucker was thrown from the bike and struck a light post.
Though his fellow soldiers rushed to his side to apply emergency first aid, Tucker was declared dead at the scene by emergency medical responders.
Originally from Junction City, Kansas, Tucker joined the U.S. Army in November 2009, and was first assigned to Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Upon completing the assignment in early 2015, Tucker was then assigned to Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska.
Tucker's unit is planning a memorial ceremony, though details have not been finalized.
The Anchorage Police Department continues to investigate the crash.

When I first read this post two thoughts came to mind: (1) I remembered a young NCO who was killed in a motorcycle accident in Germany in 1983 and (2) I remember that my father had a heart transplant in 1992 after somebody died in a motorcycle accident.
Younger people tend to take risks which seems to be the case in the death of Staff Sgt. Maurice O. Tucker.
I join with others in praying that his family will be comforted. I pray that his death will get many others to think clearly both to remind them to be deliberate in their actions and not foolish and hopefully to recognize the Hope that is found only in Christ.
