Looks like a money grab to me. Baldwin may have called her an "insurrectionist" in a personal exchange ("Baldwin privately messaged her on the social media platform") and hurt her feelings, but that doesn't amount to defamation. Now if he was calling her out by name in public posts, that may be a different matter, but it still may boil down to his opinion and his right to free speech - incorrect characterization or not. I believe she would have to demonstrate how Baldwin's public posts (if there are any) caused her harm, financially or otherwise. I was not able to see the lawsuit itself - redirected to "Pacer", and I don't know what that is.

MSgt Steve Sweeney I agree and I suspect her case is going nowhere. 6 Jan 2021 is an incident of public interest. She voluntarily and publicly injected herself into that debate. That is likely going to make her a limited public figure for the purposes of liability around the discussion of January 6th. If I am indeed correct in that analysis, she will have to show malice on Baldwin's part instead of it being his opinion which she won't be able to do.

I think his opinion is wrong, but she likely has no case.

SPC Kevin Ford - While he probably should have kept his opinion to himself, she'll have to prove that there were actual damages caused by his remark. I agree that she 99% does not have a case.

You are aware that "never" and "easiest target" are different, right?

Certainly, but I still don't see you calling anyone on the right a racist.

There is a kernel of prejudice in the heart of everyone. Should that rise to "racism " it will be addressed. The wholesale tossing of the word "racist " is simply a calculated device to freeze a conversation. It carries the weight and sting as the worn cliche "whatever".
