Without a doubt Android devices are less secure. It is easier to add alternate stores, the app approval process in Google's official store is lax, the APKs are self signed after the compilation process instead of during it (Apple's provisioning profiles are a PITA but they are much more secure). I could go on, there is just so much to unpack with Android and security.

I won't disagree with app development, however I'm certainly not a droid hater. I love the freedom the OS gives me to alter and specify how I want my device to behave. Just need to be smart enough to use it responsibly. Also, more attackers are targeting Android devices because the information within is generally more valuable.
