They shouldn't be renaming any of them. Stupid virtue signaling.

Not every fort is named after the genius leader of its era, not every Confederate general was a Lee or Stonewall Jackson. Some of them were actually pretty bad generals, even in the opinion of their own fellow leaders.

Renaming it after MOH recipients isn't a bad call.

Lee was a horrible general and having things named for him is a great educational opportunity. The South was winning a defensive battle, he went into the North, and attacked the Union Army on the high ground. Longstreet was against this action and Lee over rid him and lost one of the biggest battles of the war at Gettysburg. I am dumbfounded that anyone ever thought Lee was great, he lost the fucking war on 3 JULY 1863.

Audie Murphy for Stewart seems appropriate

Roy Benavidez for Hood

Hard to say for Benning; Pershing, Grant, Eisenhower

I'd be ok with keeping Lee, all historical things considered, but as that's not likely perhaps Washington since it's Virginia.

Most people on the keep it the same ticket couldn't articulate who it is they want to keep it the same for. Most of your Soldiers can't either, so don't try and stand on ceremony about history because quite frankly I doubt most Soldiers actually know it. Perhaps a failure of the old leadership.

MAJ Dale E. Wilson, Ph.D. - Most definitely not, but the French still hate Rommel so I doubt that hate for Sherman is going away anytime soon. He got a tank named after him though.

If they go thru with the renaming I think all bases should be renamed for MOH heros and get rid of all the flag officer names. And they should be all that gave the ultimate sacrifice while earning their MOH. One of the first ones for Benning would be James Andrew's who lead the raid that lead to the creation of the MOH. And definitely Audie Murphy for Stewart.

With respects Sir, Audie Murphy survived the war and did not die while earning his MOH.

MAJ Byron Oyler correct, sorry should have been more clear considering he is one of the most decorated soldiers. Thus that is why I mentioned him. Sorry about not being clear enough. And thanks for correcting me.MAJ Byron Oyler
