Back in the day I recall teachers acted like interrogators. Some of them like actual police. There were even truant officers all over the place too. And, sometimes I thought the old widow down the street had a direct line to my parents' ears. Needless to say, it kept most kids in line and none of what they said or did followed you unless a reportable offense was committed and recorded. None of this was like the privacy invasions today.
