The recent arrest of Coast Guard Lt. Christopher Hasson, a former Marine who investigators say was a longtime white nationalist, has lawmakers worried that military leaders may not be adequately tracking white supremacy issues within the ranks.

A thousand years ago (1980), back when the military was still paid in cash at pay sites, there would be tables set up for the local businesses - Bob's Barber, the local bars, all that. When I was first stationed at Fort Polk, EVERY month, the last table in line was a recruiting table for the local chapter of the KKK. No shit.
I also served with a guy that was a card-carrying member of the Grand Knights of the KKK when I was in the 101st in Desert Storm. As long as you did your job, nobody cared at that time.
