i never understood the amount of time Republicans take obsessing over her. She's just a jr House member. The only thing I can figure out is they see potential in her and want to discredit her before she gains more power and experience.

MAJ James Woods - Her Politifact record hasn't been stellar. I don't think she is doing in purposely, mostly just repeating some widely held beliefs on the left that don't always pass factual muster.

https://www.politifact.com/personalities/alexandria-ocasio-cortez/statements/by/

But if you compare her to Trump, well there really isn't any comparison. With Trump it is so frequent and continues even after he's been informed of what the truth is. He is well beyond some idea that he may simply be mistaken. He's well in the the purposeful, frequent and repeated liar category.

My problem is that it gives Trump supporters some ammunition to feel they can ignore the lies from Trump if they see someone on the left occasionally making some factually incorrect statements, even when they are to a much lesser degree. But like I said, that's my only real complaint. I think she is going to be a positive force for change in the Democratic party.

Edit to add: If you want someone I admire for making the case and always trying to stick to verifable facts, check out the Politifact record of Elizabeth Warren:

SPC Kevin Ford Yeah the problem with Politifact is the slight right wing bias in some of their fact checking. I read each of the listed fact checks and some of the data points they used are themselves inaccurate, misinformed, or a presumption.
For example, the Amazon wage argument; for a longtime Amazon and other entities like Walmart paid so low a wage and encouraged their workers to apply for government assistance. The most recent $15 increase can be credited to activist politicians like Sanders and AOC and Rohkana putting the pressure on them.
Next example, the low employment numbers and working multiple jobs and more than 40 hours claim. She’s not the only politician or economist to make this claim; much like many Republicans claimed the numbers were low under Obama cause people stopped claiming unemployment. What kills me is they show a chart that showed 1. Working 2 part time jobs, 2. working 2 full time jobs, and 3. working 1 part time & full time job combined. Um wait, why not show how many 1xPT and 1xFT separately? Graphs like that intentionally mislead a point.
So as much Politifact does a decent job of making an argument with select facts and data points, sometimes they are misleading too. Important to read the details of their position and not just their final assessment.

MAJ James Woods - I do hear the complaints about Politifact from people on the left and the right, each claiming their analysis' lean in the other direction. That's why I gave Elizabeth Warren as a counter example, as she isn't exactly a right leaning, well anything.

I don't find graphs based on the bureau of labor statistics to be misleading. They are broken down that was because it shows more information than the way you proposed. The questions asked were not make particularly for the purpose of showing if her comment was either right or wrong but to show information on the state of America's job market. But theoretically it is information from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, or a similar organization, that she should have used to come to her conclusion on multiple jobs.

MAJ James Woods - Just to add, to be fair a few months ago I would have make the same claim as AOC on the multiple jobs thing, I've always taken it as axiomatic. That's part of the reason why I don't ascribe any malace to her. But now I personally wonder if the claim is really true, and if so what is the evidence to support it?

How can you say she isn't representing the specific interests of her district? Jobs, environment, fair wages, better healthcare, education, better treatment by law enforcement, immigration reform and highlighting any abuse that effects her community. If you want to talk about transparency, she's one of the few politicians that has been the most transparent about the policies her caucus pushes for in Congress and she uses the social media spotlight to put pressure on those that are trying to subvert their ideas. I'd do the same if I was a leader in government. Behind close doors argue policies then make sure my constituents know what policy ideals are being debated. If it pisses off other politicians cause it embarrasses them...so be it. Look at how many constituents have said their representative only holds town halls around re-election and they don't know more than half the time what he's been doing for them. The days of one person speaking for all 435 representatives and spreading disinformation are over.

MAJ James Woods the things you mention are macro level party issues. What I refer to are micro level. How specifically has her district improved for her election?
