R Lee Ermey broke into movies omn this film. He was attending the University of Manila under the GI Bill and got a gig as a technical advisor. If you watch the scene he also plays one of the chopper pilots.

This is one of the greatest scenes of ALL TIME. Not just for the war movie genre, ALL TIME. I love this movie. Robert Duvall is the man in this movie. Wish he was in it longer.
