APOD: 2022 May 23 - The Once and Future Stars of Andromeda

Part Two of today's Twofer+1 Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD) edition is this: "The Once and Future Stars of Andromeda." We see here the different perspectives provided by viewing data sets gathered from across the electromagentic spectrum. In this composite image, we see the visible light from the Andromeda Galaxy (Messier 31 for you history buffs) in white and blue hues. Infrared light is shown in orange, and traces the lanes of dust and ionized gas that will coalesce into new stars over the next 100+ million years. You can mouse over the image on the APOD site to see the overlay between the two data sets.
