USS Thresher (SSN 593) is lost with all hands east of Cape Cod, Mass. Interesting that the day corresponds to USS Thresher (SS 200) sinking a Japanese cargo ship.

Interesting coincidence, LCDR (Join to see). I've always thought that being crushed by pressure as a submarine went to the ocean floor would not be a good way to "go".

Actually, it's near instantaneous, like a gnat being struck with a sledgehammer. What most of us feared was knowing you aren't going to make it until the fatal moment. Many of us have gone through that thought process, but recovered.
