Arlington incident shows media falling into same old Trump derangement syndrome

CPT Lawrence Cable - We are back to the same questions. Do you think military.com or the Military Times is reporting some statements as being official Army statements without checking with the Army to see if it is true? Do you also think that when statements are being widely reporting as official Army statements but are actually not, the Army wouldn't correct the record? In order to discount them as just some anonymous person and not an official statement of the US Army both of those questions would have to be true. I.e. military focused publications that are normally considered politically neutral didn't check their military sources and the US Army itself never corrected the record on such a widely circulated statement.

SPC Kevin Ford - No, Military.com is not an official statement from the Army. Military.Com is owned by Monster Worldwide, the Monster.com employment people. It is in no way an official website. Frankly, their articles tend to be superficial.
Military Times, which publishes the Army Times, Navy Times, Etc., is also a private company, Sightline Media, and is also NOT an official media for any service, although Army Times does a much better job than Military.Com. I don't think I have EVER seen a story in Army Times that used "unnamed or anonymous source", but news reporting went to hell with the 24 hour news cycle.

Let me continue a little further. You can find the rules and regulations for Arlington online and there aren't a lot the pertain to filming or photography inside the Cemetary. There are no sections off limits. Media companies are not supposed to film families mourning, but in this case, the families of the deceased sponsored it AND invited Trump and that rule doesn't apply to them since they aren't media companies. You aren't supposed campaign at the Cemetary, but since every politician since Andrew Johnson has had photos at Arlington, it appears they mean actively campaigning. Using Arlington as a Photo Drop and then campaigning on it hasn't bothered the before, both Biden and Harris had campaign adds that featured Arlington. Go over to X, those those campaign adds are all over X. All this is a big nothing burger that you believe simply because you don't like Trump.
