In this case it was a young profession who had toi deal with a old idiot that spoke without thinking. She did nothing Wrong the Gerladina acted like a amateur and a fool, not so much with the "sweetheart" , although that was idiotic, but when he went full on "Partisan political' on duty . The latter alone did more than enough reason to give him the boot.

Special assistant to a senior general is usually the holding position they put generals in until they can get his retirement processed. Often it's at the Pentagon as a special assistant to the Chief of Staff of the Army.
