Here are a few items that were not mentioned, SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL. Although Army does have a current winning record of 6-5 (going into the Navy game), two of those wins were against FCS (old 1-AA) opponents. Only one FCS victory can count towards bowl eligibility, so Army was picked for the bowl game on the basis of five wins only. Should they lose to Navy this weekend, they'll go to the bowl game with a losing record, eligibility-wise.
The team that Army will face in the Heart of Dallas Bowl, North Texas, drilled them in season play, 35-18 (this was mentioned). On a positive note, the Sagarin ratings favor Army by 8.58 points if the two teams were to play this weekend.
Now on to the Army-Navy game. Navy has won the last fourteen straight games, and I don't see that changing this weekend. I hope I'm wrong! Navy played a much stronger schedule than Army (Army played two FCS opponents and Navy was actually considered for the Cotton Bowl). The Sagarin ratings currently favor Navy by 16.15 points. Army will have to play their best and Navy will have to play their worst for Army to come out on top this weekend!
LTC Stephen F., I hope you don't think I'm trying to give your alma mater a hard time! Frankly, I want them to win in the worst way. I just watch football closely, and simply put the facts on paper!
I still say, Go Army, Beat Navy!
