Rolls out of gear?? You mean someone forgot to set the parking brake and it rolled? I understand the remark about chock blocks and SOP's, but I want to know about the "rolling out of gear" scenario.

That or I am guessing they may only set they hand brake which may not have been enough or the parking pawl (the thing that engages when in Park) gave way. Pure speculation on my part though.

SFC David B Ingles - Yeah, the more I think about it, (I think) I remember the top is actually for Reverse, then Neutral then the drive gears, with no Park. I drove a lot of the Army's wheeled vehicles (and Brads-fun!) but wasn't in HMMWVs too often. It all blends together eventually in my memory. Thanks

Yikes that's an important step on the flight deck and hangar bay we never forgot that step.
