It will be interesting to see how this dance plays out with Germany and their spending.
It is a good idea to improve our methods in the meantime in case the fit hits the shan.

I agree that this is a good report as to the US ability to put units into Western Europe but if Soviet aggression in that area is such a concern then NATO must also deploy forces. There are 28 NATO countries, for every few units the US deploys there should be another unit from one of the “big eight” Turkey, Germany, UK, France etc… then one from one of the other 19 not to include troops in their home countries for those that joined after 99. This would force them into understanding what it means to underwrite article 5 of the charter. Defense is more than a response after an attack.

LCDR (Join to see) - damn straight, sir! The countries with no skin in the game really aren't as invested as those of us who are constantly putting more on the line for those enjoying the coattail ride.

SSgt (Join to see) - And as you see I am not against us leading the way but if you are going to add a few battalions to Western Europe you have to plus up troop strength, active duty and reserve. We have to stop pushing the weight of these extra requirement down unto our troops. I advocate a hold what you got strategy. We do not need a new tank, plane or ship. Build more of what we have in the field today. These are tried and battle tested systems that have never been defeated. At this point we need numbers not so Star Trek magic box.
