If he had placed the upside down flag ahead of the Chinese flag, would there have been anything said about it. Probably so. The law states he broke the law. But, since he is having problems with an oil company trespassing on his property, I possibly could understand the flag being upside down as a distress signal.

According to Fox News, Homer Martz had raised the upside down flag beneath a Chinese flag to protest an oil pipeline being built without his consent next to a well that supplies water to his home.

People burn it, walk on it, wipe their ass with it, but a Vet flies the Flag Upside down (which we all know means distress) and gets arrested? WTF is going on with this country? Some people have their priorities out of order.

Some people get arrested for burning it as well. It just depends on the city and police department. The city will likely lose but the vet still has to take time and money to fight it.

I agree with all of you. I've seen protesters burn the American flag, and nothing was done about it. I don't agree flying the Chinese flag.

SFC George Smith, I have a flag pole in my front yard. I had put a new American flag on and my wife and I left the house. When we got back I saw the flag upside down. I said holy shit, my flags upside down. I couldn't get to it fast enough to change it. I wonderd what my neighbors must of thought about that.
