1) Nothing is so dangerous to a soldier on the field of combat as tactical orders from Washington DC.
2) All warfare is deception. D-Day can't be June 6th, Patton is in the North of England preparing to invade at Pas de Calais. Trump is tweeting he can't be in the situation room monitoring an operation (No I am not making a comparison between Patton's military acumen and President Trump's)
3) Since when has an American casualty made the operation a failure.

It is not "ODD" that he did not monitor every second of the operation from the situation room. You want to point fingers, WHERE WAS OBAMA AND HILLARY DURING THE BENGHAZI ATTACK?? Obama and Hillary were not in the situation room. Gee. And as you pointed out Obama did not monitor every operation, but you expect Trump to do it? Oh, and where is the proof that Obama watched the first raid or military operation from the situation room when he first took office in 2009? NOWHERE. And Obama skipped his intelligence briefing the morning after Benghazi. Wow. Finally, even the article said that they did not know if Trump or an aide had sent the tweet. And they want to make a big deal over a tweet that he might not have sent? The story from the Huffington Post is bias and total garbage!

SP5 Christine Conley - It is not the same at all. The Yemen operation was a self-contained operation. With adequate contingency forces available should they become necessary. Benghazi was not a US planned operation. It was a US response to a enemy operation. Adequate self-contained forces were not on station and contingency forces were not pre-positioned.

Given access to the right assets a seasoned Company grade officer or SNCO could have planned and executed a potentially successful rescue effort for Benghazi. I do not think anyone was expecting Secretary Clinton to give Strategic, Operational, or Tactical input. That is a DOD job.

What we have a right to expect is that the Secretary of State would be present as soon as possible to conduct international liaison, (the business of her cabinet position) to influence and expedite international permission for our on military forces en route that may require the use foreign air space, or require foreign logistical support; or requesting direct intervention by foreign military force within response distance. Neither of which a company grade officer or SNCO is going to have the horse power to achieve. That kind of coordination and cooperation is only going to be achieved at the highest level of government.

SP5 Christine Conley - What does that have to do with my post? I am talking about the situation room in the White House and the situation room at CentCom, and any response that could have been made to help them.

Obviously, the men on the ground are not going to be thinking any higher than tactically. Furthermore, any rescue effort in that situation would have to either be ad hoc, off the reservation, tactical, and put together by people on the ground (getting no support) or coordinated at the highest levels getting international coordination and support.

SP5 Christine Conley - I am not talking about the contractors and Ambassador in Benghazi planning and executing their own rescue effort or commanding the rescue from Benghazi. Anything in my explanation that could have been misunderstood has been misunderstood. I apologize for not providing a better explanation.

The White House Situation Room (in the United States) and the CentCom Command Center (in the United States) are probably manned 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. I am referring to seasoned watch officer or watch SNCO at CentCom CoC (in the United States) or at the White House Situation Room (in the United States) could have formulated a contingency plan and got the right forces moving in the right direction to assist the contractors and ambassador in Benghazi. The primary function of a Combat Command Center Staff is to recognize a subordinate field unit's (the contractors and Ambassador)needs and to get the assets moving there before they even ask for them.

BUT, those watch standers (in the United States command centers) would not have the horse power to get foreign cooperation for US forces to get foreign logistical support or for foreign combat forces to start moving, let alone commit to combat action That would require at least Cabinet level (Secretary Clinton) coordination if not Commander in Chief (President Obama). In my explanation I am not expecting anything from the three contractors and ambassador (in Benghazi) other than the initial call for help and holding out as long as they can.

Wow, a leader puts people in place, gets their advice and counsel, makes a decision then lets them do their job without his interference. He allows the military command to plan, launch and execute their mission without his involvement. I would think that might be refreshing but nope, not good enough for the Huffpo and SSG Woart.

Of course, had he been in the situation room monitoring and advising, watching etc. he would have been accused of being a micromanager of the worst kind. You see, this is what happens when your derangement about someone is this severe. No matter what course he takes, it will be wrong.
