Well as SecDef...I believe that is well within his rights...There are only two civilians in DoD that have legal authority over military...President and SecDef.

MAJ Montgomery Granger - If this was a Military Court or tribunal, he absolutely has the right to overturn the decision...happens all the time in Military courts...He is the ultimate appeals authority...last before the CINC. I am glad he did...these terrorists deserve death penalty and to be served immediately...IMHO.

MAJ Montgomery Granger it is under mil law and he does have the right to overturn...mil law yes...civ law no...different set of rules.
