Pretty typical to find different customs all over the world. Remember going to a half day class on Middle Eastern customs when I was first assigned to HQUSCENTCOM. I'm told that Coalition partners and their families get same kind of training on American customs when they get assigned to HQUSCENTCOM to this day.

I was SAC most of my career so didn't get stationed overseas as much as many. However B-52 tours in Thailand, Okinawa and Guam got me loving travel and experiencing other cultures early in my career. Remote in Turkey and extended tours in Middle East got me exposed to lots of different ones.

Been to Turkey in 2011 beautiful country. I also want to go to Okinawa revisit my grandma's roots .

Had a remote there 80-81. Unless on duty I spent every weekend in the MWR van traveling the countryside and living off the economy. Lots of history and great food.
Would have loved to travel around a bit on Okinawa but our schedules didn't allow it. At best we had 24 hours off so really didn't see much beyond the cities right around the base.
