You know I had a few new recruits over the years while recruiting and in Cadre for the GA-NG, who were short and very this and always complained. Though he was not anywhere in my history books in school my grandparents collection had plenty on him. Coming from a family of giants my sister and I were considered the shortest and always in front when taking family photos.
She would pull that particular history book out and make us read it and take in how small Lt. Murphy was. She then named off several others in history who were also small. And told us that short people had a better advantage then tall people. Some reasons were you could hide better in smaller areas, people will always mistake you for a kid and take mercy on you, and while everyone else has there heads in the clouds looking up shorter people had a more clear view of what was really happening on the ground.
She told me her and my great grandfather got to meet him once in Texas when my great grandfather was in the military. Knowing my grandma, I can't say how much of that is true, but the stories she told about his tactics would be a great listen if she really did get to meet him.
