Try bringing a Bible into Saudi Arabia. I had a Diplomatic Passport as a Military Advisor from 1988-89 so my luggage was not inspected. I had a Bible. If you don't have a Diplomatic Passport - Bibles are confiscated

Well COL I assume that you are either an atheist or agnostic. In any event, your observation regarding religion does have a modicum of truth in that more wars and conflicts have been conducted in he name of one religion or another. Finally, since religion is nothing more than man's attempt to understand and worship a deity or deities and that worship normally consists of doctrine or rituals codified into texts; confiscation and burning of those texts will accomplish nothing. Religion is man made, the search for answers to the mysteries of the universe is central to man's existence. Nothing will stop man from asking the question am I alone in the universe and is there a God.

SFC James Sczymanski - Man is an imperfect being and as such the mores and folkways of society often reflect Man's imperfections. You can ascribe to any number if competing theories as to why Man behaves as he does - from Freud to Maslov to Behaviorists to Jung and everything in between. The reality is that Man has an intellect and unlike his fellow mammals can reason and act not by instinct alone. It is because of this ability to reason that Man often makes decisions based upon emotion rather than logic or fact. Accordingly, because Man often acts upon those emotions, that your observation has some merit. Because, when Man acts upon emotion instead of logic - he often makes erroneous choices that lead to unintended consequences.

No one feels sorry for Muslims. Until they can live with other religions in their countries then Islam should not be recognized as a religion.
