Author Says New Zealand Massacre Points To A Global Resurgence Of 'Extremism'

On March 15, a 28-year-old Australian man opened fire in two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand, killing 50 people and injuring dozens more. The shooter had previously declared allegiance to "white identity" — a fact that came as no surprise to J.M. Berger, an author who studies extremist movements.
"We're seeing a resurgence in various countries," he says of white nationalism. "It's a worldwide phenomenon."
Berger, who studies the online activity of extremists, notes that the New Zealand shooter praised President Trump as "as a symbol of renewed white identity" in a 74-page document he published before the massacre. That mention, Berger says, aligns with a trend he found when he studied the hashtags and language used by alt-right Twitter users.

Just last week over 200 Christians were butchered and as of yet no one has called attention to this atrocity? Our news agencies seemed to bleed all over themselves when something happens to a muslim at some mosque somewhere. Don't you worry they will scope it out and report on it? The Taliban admitted that the killings they are responsible for just increase 29% and they are now responsible for over 6419 killings this last year. This is in sharp contrast to Boco Harom and other groups who have experienced a slight decline in killings by their groups anywhere from 16% - 24%. Gosh that should help us all sleep better at night huh?

Non-white extremists account for far more bodies than the Chirstchurch shooter could ever dream. But why focus on events that don't fit the narrative?

I fail to see what the new zealand shooter has to do with ISIS, but, ok...... in terms of this interview, that was some of the blandest, non inciteful, orange man bad articles I've read. The articles doesn't highlight any of the "alt rights" ideas, just says they gravitate to the symbol of Trump (which is just more Orange man bad porn), his thoughts on 8chan aren't wrong, but, they also aren't correct either, and white supremacists don't want their guns taken away..... because minorities taking over the government or something..... All in all, it was too short while failing to clearly communicate any idea other than orange man bad and I've read more thoughtful posts on /leftypol/
