Milwaukee proves this to be somewhat of a false narrative. When you have a police officer, black, that shoots a perp with a long record (just for the record) and has a firearm pointed at the cop and he points it at them, I do NOT feel respect comes into the equation. and when many are called into the disturbed area to beat the S**t out of all whiteys, has nothing to do with respect, but racism and anarchy.
That being said, some communities have had fairly decent results from spending more time communicating with local residents, but I would bet dollars to donuts that the people responding to the trust thingy, aren't the gangbangers.

Thanks for your input MCPO Roger Collins. That's a different scenario all together. The police officer gave the perp every chance to comply. When he didn't and pointed the gun at the officer, he had no other choice but to shoot. I'll bet you a dime to a donut, there weren't law abiding poor black citizens in that riot.

Thanks for the share SGT (Join to see), this is a different post as opposed to what I usually see regarding police treatment. Golden rule, treat others how you want to be treated, if the police treat the poor like trash, the poor will treat the police like trash, and vice versa.

Thanks for the SGT (Join to see). I see a lot of posts in this thread that are talking about the difference in the neighborhoods and communities and how they self-regulate, or police their own neighborhoods and such. And for the most part they are correct. If you have a community that is involved or aware of what is going on around them, then yes, it will be safer, and there will be less call for Police to Patrol the areas. I also agree that in the Higher Crime areas (Note I didn't say Poor Neighborhoods) where the gangs and other illegal activities are being allowed or overlooked and even turning the other cheek to not get involved is where I think the LEOS spend more time.
Nobody strives to be poor (At least I hope), but then again I know a couple of families that have been on public assistance for two or three generations. Does that make them bad people, not really, just thinking everyone owes them and they get the hand out.
But back to what I was saying. If the community, itself is more self-policing and not putting up with the hoodlums and gangbangers, etc. then the neighborhood would be able to prosper more, and grow and probably cut down on the amount of senseless deaths, whether by Police, and each other for that matter.
If you let the wrong type of people get into the neighborhood and take over like a disease, then the neighborhood needs to get in there and cure the disease.

Very good post SSG Keith Cashion. When the local news reports the shootings in the lower class neighborhoods, the people living in that area are scared to death to tell the police anything. Very seldom does a citizen come forward, even with a high reward offered. I can't blame them. Couple of weeks ago a lady was on the news about her neighborhood needs to get rid of the drug pushers and drugs. She had her back to the camera, but the gang bangers found where she lived and shot up her house.
