A SCUBA tank? Lewis and Clark hunted with a.50 caliber airgun that held its charge in the stock. We can't duplicate that technology?

We can replicate it and have already. It amazing they were able to make this air rifle with the technology of the 1790's. This gun was crazy it took 1,500 pumps to get it to operating pressure of 800psi. The current versions of this usually have an air tank to the front now and we have Compressors to charge them up.

Another thought is can you imagine marching into a line of fire that you can not hear coming at you!?!? Back then you knew when rounds were fired from the puff of smoke and bang. With that Airgun you wouldn't hear anything. Your buddies would just be dropping around you. I guess you would hear the bee's and wasps going by, but then that raises another questions. Did the lead balls sound like modern rounds when they are near misses....

Sorry full of questions today...

I have read some about these haven't seen or fired one yet. The local (state) laws in many places will hold them back. Nice to see Arkansas embracing this new/updated technology.
