I remember a saying when I was growing up..."Sticks and stones may break my bones...but names will never hurt me", now a days... names can land your butt in jail.
If we can't even start the conversation.. then there can be no exchange of ideas and "dialogue" will soon go the way of the dinosaur".
Maybe next time some one says to me... "I am offended, I will simply reply..."I am offended that you are offended".

I am totally against political correctness. I think that more shit would get accomplished in a more efficient manner in all walks of life if people stopped pussy footing around feelings, and just said what was on their mind. I don't mean to say it in a cruel way, but say what needs to be said. If something is fucked up, say it. The only way it gets fixed is if it is in the open. When I say don't be cruel it means being honest, without being overly critical of an individual. That is when it descends from open communication to just bashing. A side effect is that people tend to tune out when they are being criticized or patronized. If venting needs to occur, wait until the situation is resolved go into an isolated space, and vent. I do this all the time. I will be working with someone on their PC, they will say or do something completely the opposite of the instructions I give them, then I end up having to do the task for them. All the while I think "you cannot possibly be this fucking stupid!" When the tasks are complete, and I am off the phone I will walk away from my cube, Take a deep breath and say what I have been thinking out loud. Doesn't matter if I am saying it to myself, I have gotten it out, now it doesn't bother me anymore. I have not demeaned that person by saying it to them directly, but I have gotten the task at hand taken care of.
