Agreed. I have been very pleasantly surprised by what I have seen and heard so far. Especially with both the tattoo policy (for the record, I have none) and uniform change timelines. And now this.

How about not being concerned with sock color at all? We don't care about the color of the shoes already. If we are seriously going to consider mandating black socks then we need to also get rid of the requirement that they can't have any logos. The only good black socks without logos aren't meant for running in.

Whoah! You gotta slow down with that common sense sir! We can't have that sort of reckless abandon when it comes to PT uniforms! We'll have kids coming to formation with tiny little logos on their socks that will COMPLETELY detract from the professional image of the PT uniform. I mean, think of it, we'll have the sports kids with Adidas or Nike socks, the rich kids with New Balance or Under Armour socks, and the kids that can't afford anything on their socks being mocked for not sporting a logo. It'll be complete anarchy! The humanity!

Agreed. The only mandate we should have for socks is "wear them." The logo thing is especially annoying. It means I have to go out of my way to buy "Army compliant" socks. If the logo on my shoe doesn't imply Army endorsement (or whatever), there is no reason that a nike swoosh on my socks will bring about the end of days.

Additionally, there should be no requirement that they be a "solid color." Several of my pairs of running socks have a stripe running up the side.... I guess the marketing guys said they sell better? shrug. Commercial off the shelf athletic socks should suffice.
