We'll never make any real progress with GWOT until they resolve the Israel-Palestine conflict. UBL and others have based their dissent on US capitalism, colonialism and presence on Arab soil but the root cause may be the division between Israel and Palestine. If we go back to the Munich Olympics attack we can see the early aggression, but it arguably started in 1948. It's hard for us to understand but start by putting things in context. Imagine you live in SC. Now NC lays claim to your land, and your SC flag is no longer recognized nor is the State of SC. NC continues to build on your land and isolate you from roads and natural resources. All the while you protest and take all actions available to regain your land. If you are a loyal SC citizen there is nothing you won't do to reclaim your land. Hence, all these groups i.e. PLO, Hamas, Al Qaeda, ISIS and so many more all over the globe. Look at all the blood and treasure that the US has spent, because these two parties can't reach a lasting solution.

LTC (Join to see) - I don't know enough to say. It seems that neither party will agree on what they are entitled to. Meanwhile Israel continues to build and effectively isolate the Palestinians. If you look at a map of the disputed areas it is like a patchwork quilt of isolated pockets. The international community considers Israeli settlements on lands that previously were Palestine as illegal. Israel has held these areas since the 6 Day War of 1967, so maybe there is something to Palestine's claims. Nothing will improve unless they reach an agreement, and if neither side will compromise it will never be resolved.

Israeli settlement - Wikipedia
Israeli settlements are civilian communities[i] inhabited by Israeli citizens, almost exclusively of Jewish ethnicity,[1][2] built predominantly on lands within areas of what the international community call the Palestinian territories, which Israel has militarily occupied since the 1967 Six-Day War,[3] and partly on lands considered Syrian territory also militarily occupied by Israel since the 1967 war. Such settlements within Palestinian...

LTC (Join to see) - so they claim, since there are no treaties from that far back it's all speculation on their part, in modern times there is no debate that they took lands in 67 that were accepted as Palestinian, maybe it took them 5000 years to act on it, but again the whole situation there is clear as mud, UN and International community accept that they have wrongly seized lands that were previously occupied by Palestine and they continue to slowly force them out one settlement at a time, I don't know where it stems from, they will tell you they are God's chosen people and this is all payback for maltreatment by Egypt and others, in terms of modern times I just know that the situation has caused great loss of life and money by others and both sides need to resolve it, if they don't I have no doubt that terror factions will continue their effort, they will eventually get the nuclear assets to eradicate Israel from the map, the US and rest of the World will be collateral damage and already are to an extent via the GWOT

However, I doubt there will be much progress towards peace between Israel and Palestine during this administration.

The Iranians want to nuke Israel because in their belief( a certain faction within the government of the Iranian imams) that a nuclear attack on Israel will will bring a Muslim version of The Rapture where Muhammad comes back also known as the 'hidden Imam'. That's what scares me is that's why Iran is working so hard secret to get an a bomb but the joke is Israel already has 25 nuclear bombs on standby so if this were to happen large parts of Iran will be destroyed

LTC (Join to see) - a few suitcase nukes placed in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and other strategic locations would greatly change the dynamics of the Region, Israel has all the assets you refer to but any such exchange would decimate the Region and they know it, they are using the US and others with their effort but how can they claim to want peace when they refuse to stop forcing Palestine out? we are being drawn into this conflict and 911 is a good example of the cost, some don't want to hear it but it is a case of having their cake and eating it too, if they truly want to de-escalate the situation they need to acknowledge Palestine and stop forcing them off their own land as the UN has resolved many times, they constantly remind us about the nuclear threat from Iran but refuse to seriously make change with their policy, at a point the US needs to be tough and tell them to clean up their act or be willing to accept the consequences, due to religion and the high incidence of wealth and influence among their people in the US we have had to dance around the issue politically, as Iran and its surrogates get closer to obtaining nuclear assets that dance can only go on for so long before the music stops, these groups will never stop their quest for what they believe is theirs, I don't like the damage it has caused or agree with terrorism but it's just a fact that they will never give up, so the options are real negotiation or the worst case nuclear scenario and the clock is ticking

methinks your text auto correct has made a few too many corrections, but if you're saying there is hope with new POTUS...I guess time will tell, I like that better than what has/has not been done for the last 70 ish years and a lot better than a few mushroom clouds over the middle east, he's not in the same league as Netanyahu as a negotiator though, he'd like to believe he is but he's just not
