Great post Jack-and worth commenting upon. Certainly Winston was a man of his age; one that unabashedly assumed the mantle of colonial presence and imperial politics. He was a man who remembered Gordon in the Sudan, Burns in Afghanistan, and the Sepoy Rebellion in India. He wasn't working towards globalism, promoting universalism, or championing socialism. Quite oppositely, he was attempting to preserve what remained of Britannia, uphold "Christian" ideals, and maintain a front against Bolshevism... all before he had to lead his country in opposing the imminent threat from Nazi Germany. Was he a "good" man? By our standards, probably not. Would a "good" man have seen the SS marching up Whitehall? More than likely... yes. Churchill knew and understood that whatever sentiments they may present publicly, or harbor privately, the general populace often doesn't comprehend the cost of their so-called principles.

Too many social fools in the Congress and the media. This writer conveniently also forgot to tell us that Winston Churchill warned the British Parliament( they laughed at him in Parliament) about Adolf Hitler while everybody was embracing his accomplishments not knowing the true story of his anti-semitism, repression and mass murder on a grand scale even before even time Magazine was making him man of the year. Revisionist history is going to continue along with teachers being forced not to give zeros to students who don't do their homework because they will become drug addicts and suicidal LOL. I don't know but the education system needs fixing. A few years back, a teacher was fired in Edmonton for giving zeros to his students who didn't do their homework.
