1) This guy spoke on Trump's behalf. Therefore any arguments that this influenced the case against Trump are exceptionally weak, at best.
2) Since it likely did not hurt Trump and since what this lawyer argued was, in essence, ignored and denied in the verdict, the only folks who would have grounds to appeal would be James and her team. (At least based on this - other grounds still exist.)
3) Despite all that, Engoron had a duty to shut that down. Some people are persistent, and if Engoron was unable to shut him down, Engoron had a duty to talk to the lawyers and inform them of the incident. I do not know if he had a LEGAL REQUIREMENT to talk to the lawyers, but definitely a moral duty.
4) Point 3 notwithstanding, the only person who is *really* wrong in this story is that lawyer. As a member of the bar, he KNOWS that that communication was prohibited. He should have his law licensed suspended. Not revoked. But definitely suspended for some time.
At the end of the day, this "bombshell" is a tempest in a teapot.

Any person with an ounce of sense could see how much of corrupt joke this trial was.
