I believe he has been discharged because that is usually immediate. He can appeal the discharge category after the fact...I don't believe he is still on active duty.
I think he oughta be make pebbles out of boulders for his remaining days...just my two cents

Thank you, but the part that confuses me, is giving him the sentence with a caveat that he'll have to pay $1000 a month for the next ten months of his salary. Two weeks or less to clear, and he's out. Where are they going to get the money from?

On a side note, he'll be infamous in more ways than one when the book and movie deals are completed. That is a damn shame and a slap to all of our faces.

He deserted... In theater... His actions got men killed and injured. He should have been put in front of a firing squad.

LCDR (Join to see) - Sir I understand what you're saying, I even see your point, but he caused a DUSWUN, and believe me (I was attached to his BDE), there was nothing for three days fun after that came over the radio (in the middle of the night). I was inspecting hands on verification for three days, non stop gear inspections, had to be paranoid and trust none of the locals we were mentoring, so while he took it upon himself to screw his buddies, we had no missions for three days unless resupply, sit on your can until told otherwise. Now from that time on, people are sending men to look for this clown and some aren't with us anymore. So in the case of talking about vigilantism, TO ME, I don't want any harm to come to him, but I'm not blind to the fact there are a LOT of folks from the Stan in 09 who would want a chunk of his ass, and the family and Soldiers of the fallen who would love to say hello to him themselves. We do not have to like it, but the unfortunate reality is none of us would be remotely surprised, and I don't think anyone would care.
