Solid Center of the Mass. No one asks the question as to ours and NATOs training for the wrong war. How many exercises are done all in the defensive, and in various states of defense - and in defense and counterattacks in urban terrain.... none. And yet - where ever the next fight will be - we will be defending - and holding terrain. Great article!!!!

As a Berlin Vet 1982-84 I can tell you defense of the city was number one knowing most likely to fail! Inflicting as much pain through asymmetric warfare on Eastern block and Soviet Forces was number two. Given the amount of forces surrounding us breaking out or expecting reinforcements and resupply was pretty much pipe dreaming.
Most Berlin Vets will either tell you they were either going to hang POW signs on the wall or we were fighting to the death. If you've never heard of Detachment A look it up.
