@john McClellan this is certainly a commitment to humankind, to offer up one's body and time to pray and meditate 2,300 miles. Wouldn't it be remarkable if every religion represented in the US would do the same.

I watched an amazing Documentary about the "Funeral Monks" of Japan, made by the Aussies....and this kind of reminded me of that.

In 2019, a 71-year old US Air Force veteran, William Shuttleworth, walked from his hometown of Newburyport, Massachusetts, to San Diego, California, to raise awareness for veterans' issues, such as veteran suicide and homelessness. He raised over $58,000 for the Disabled American Veterans charity. "Veterans gave a lot and often have little to show for it. More than 25% of all homeless men are veterans, and many of these forgotten warriors struggle with employment, addiction and sobriety. Vets don’t forget Vets.”
