The Dark Web, just like the World Wide Web, was originally created by the Department of Defense. The difference is, the Dark Wab was specifically intended to be used by the IC and .. for lack of a more all-encompassing word: spies. Cryptocurrencies and anonymity are useful to anyone who does not want to be traced - sometimes thats us... sometimes it's not.

Better check your history... the WWW was first created by Tim Berners-Lee at CERN in Switzerland. TCP/IP was developed for DARPA and later evolved into the Internet when it entered into widespread use at Universities as a research tool. The advent of BSD 4.3 UNIX with a tcp/ip stack built in lead to the ubiquitous use of the Internet. In the beginning, IP addresses were kept i files /etc/hosts but it soon became too cumbersome so DNS was developed (the Backbone Conspiracy). Some SYSADMINS didn't choose to participate in the DNS re-organization which led to creation of the darknet and eventually the darkweb.
I was there for parts of this... get your story straight
