LTC Eric Udouj I think this is an advantage ISIS has had over the regular Iraqi army from the beginning. It always seems like they don't really want to fight & hope that the threat of a fight will scare all enemies off. Is that a remnant of days of yore (Saddam's army?) where they were just about the biggest, baddest in the region?
Given that terrorism is the base tactic for ISIS, they easily take advantage of any belief that their opponent faces - especially one where they hope they don't have to fight because they think the ISIS fighters will run. I'm wondering what past event has made the regular Iraqi army think that the ISIS fighter is a turncoat & will run at the first sign of struggle?

I was wondering WHO in the Iraqi forces came up with the idea, which is an item used to boost Iraqi forces morale, and yet has no basis. Had they focused it directly on the "militia" fighting for IS, maybe it would be something... but instead it allows the IS commander an advantage he did not have. It does not seem to look at how does one's enemy define victory or how they define defeat and so it goes on.
