Ideally, we leave Syria alone and only deal with IS in Iraq. That would be a much cleaner issue to deal with. Syria really complicates things as their are no good guys, only varying level of bad guys there.
Militarily, we don't need the Iranians, Russians or Turks. But for success in the long run, you need local support and involvement. Its going to be a tough nut to crack.

Honestly we need to get out of Syria and leave the Russian's to that sector.
They have the will to fight the way that the terrorists understand.
