Can you save money by shipping your luggage instead of checking it?

That's fine if you are going to a house, but not for a hotel, cruise, etc. What happens in your flight is cancelled or delayed over night. Not sure if it would be worth it. Then you would need to ship it back and possibly be without it for 3 or 4 days. Good idea for some. Thanks for sharing, but I will probably bite the bullet and check or carry on.
