Captain Marvel VS Wonder Woman

Captain Marvel is the MCU's first attempt at making a standalone female superhero movie. DC however actually beat Marvel to it and made Wonder Woman as their first standalone female superhero within the DC Universe. With the release of Avengers Endgame coming up very soon, did Marvel make a hit with Captain Marvel or did they actually fall behind DC?
