I think the new SecDef now sees the threat of sequestration the way that many of us do. GEN Odierno mentioned this quite some time ago. Perhaps the greatest challenge of causing a productive change is convincing Congress to obtain similar views. This is more than just money and employment; it is a matter of national security in my opinion. I look forward to the feedback of others.

That is a very strange statement SSG Leonard J W. especially coming from Secretary Ash Carter. The DoD is focused on the mid to long term threat as it has been for decades. Sequestration is a short term problem that while painful it has forced the federal government to tighten its belt in some areas.
One day I hope that the Federal Budget will reward increases in efficiency and effectiveness and not automatically reduce the budget slice of agencies which become more efficient and effective with the taxpayers funding they have been provide with.

LTC Stephen F., I agree with you. I think the 'belt tightening' is effective when used appropriately, but too much of it results in an improper fit. I think you are spot on with rewards for effectiveness and efficiency - these are an absolute necessity in today's rapidly changing environment and society. Thanks for the feedback, brother!
